The 'North Sea Producer', berthed opposite Middlesbrough FC's Riverside Stadium In August 2015. An FPSO vessel (floating production storage and offloading), it was converted on the Tees in 1996-7 from the 1983-built product tanker Dagmar Maersk to work in the MacCulloch oil field, which lies 250km north-east of Aberdeen, for ConocoPhillips. At 236 metres in length, the vessel had a daily production capacity of 76, 000 barrels of oil and has a storage capacity of 560, 000 barrels. After 18 years in one of the harshest maritime environments, and now that production in that particular oilfield has ceased, it lies at Able UK's Bex Quay awaiting a decision upon its future. Revealed by the low tide is the structure of a long-since abandoned jetty and sunken river barge. Both provide haunting echoes of Middlesbrough Dock's industrial past.
