UK, Sir Keith Mills, Deputy Chair LOCOG was at Portland, Dorset for the official handover of the athletes Olympic Sailing village complex. The whole village is now under tight 24 hours a day security as LOCOG prepare the homes for the sailors later in the year. Special furniture and fittings are being brought into the homes carrying London 2012 logos etc for the sailors. The houses which have been on the market already will be sold after the event. Some homes have been bought but the owners are not allowed to live in them until the games have finished, but the purchasers will receive a rental fee in the mean time. The Eco style homes are very well insulated, rainwater capture and will be very cheap to heat for the home owners. There is a central special pellet wood burning furnace that heats many of the homes. Some of the larger properties have their own furnaces. Picture by: Dorset Media Service.
