Ian Barbour, a physicist and theologian from Minnesota, USA, stands with his wife, Deane, as he holds the Templeton Prize that he received at London's Buckingham Palace from the Duke of Edinburgh - the husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. * The prize, worth 750, 000, is the world's largest annual award, and goes each year to the living person who has shown extraordinary originality in advancing humankind's understanding of God and/or spirituality. Beijing-born Barbour is the Winifred and Atherton Bean Professor Emeritus of Science, Technology and Society at Carleton College, and has examined the social and environmental impacts of technology and the ethical issues in areas such an energy policy and genetic engineering.
