Informations supplémentaires:
Railway enthusiasts have hired a powerful crane to lift the lower sections of a new bridge into place across a river in the Highlands. Strathspey Steam Railway needs a crossing on the River Dulnain so it can offer journeys between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey. The group runs locomotives along 10 miles (16km) of line between Aviemore and Broomhill. It needs three more miles of track (4.8km) to link up with Grantown. For cranes with a jib that extends beyond the length of the chassis, a match wagon (also known as a 'jib carrier' (UK) or 'boom car' (US)) is provided to protect the jib and to allow the crane to be coupled within a train. The match wagon is usually a long, flat wagon that provides a means of securing the jib for transportation; storage areas for special equipment or supplies are usually fitted too. It was not uncommon for the match wagon to be built on a withdrawn revenue-earning wagon.
