Khenemone Chanmeechai, a disabled blind (without vision) 16 year old girl, is singing at The Lao National Culture Hall in Vientiane, Laos. She is being accompanied by a blind male band known as the Noun Phalangchai Band. Singers, dancers and musicians from five countries including Japan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam performed without vision (blind) and hearing (deaf) while entertaining an audience at the Lao National Culture Hall in Vientiane, Laos with a wide range of musical talent. The event marked the commemoration of International Day For Disabled People, and was sponsored in part by the Nippon Foundation of Japan. Khenemone Chanmeechai is 16 years old. She lost her vision at age 9 as a result of conjunctivitis. By the time her parents got her to a hospital in Vientiane, the damage was irreparable and the doctors told her she would not see the world again. She gradually lost her vision. "It is so hard to live my life but I have to carry on" she says. She is now a singer in a band known as Noun Phalangchai Band. "I try to sing with my friends by using memories." "Singing lets my mind be happy."
