The SKANDIA supermaxi has arrived in Sydney from her hometown of Mornington, marking the start of her Rolex Sydney Hobart campaign 2007. The yacht, which has been in dry dock for the Australian winter is sporting the same livery and signage as last year - although owner and skipper Grant Wharington has made some small but significant changes to his supermaxi below the water. He has shaved some weight off the keel fin and also reduced the bulb. This will reduce wetted surface area, without making any significant differences to righting moment. SKANDIA will take part in the SOLAS Big Boat Challenge in Sydney Harbour on Tues 11 Dec - where she will front up against her old rival WILD OATS. The yacht suffered some minor damage on her trip up, so the crew will be working hard through the night to ensure she is in tip top condition for this big day.
