Prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemani sculpure on the way of Santa Cova chapel on the mountain Montserrat in Monistrol de Montserrat, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain This mystery is referred to in the account of the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 26, 36-46). It was blessed on June 24, 1897 and reformed on June 24, 1900. THE monument is located in a small cave excavated to the right of the road in the direction of Santa Cova. This mystery, like all those of pain, are in the wildest part of the Santa Cova path, where the path has to overcome several torrents. The monument is the work of the sculptor Josep Campeny i Santamaria (1858-1922) and the foundry is from Masriera i Campins. The mystery is a sculptural ensemble that represents the scene of Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. The work consists of two statues, that of Jesus and that of the angel. The scene of the prayer is represented, in a completely minimalist way, it is composed of the figure of Jesus kneeling, a standing angel in full body and an olive branch. The angel initially held a cup and a cross in his hands, which are no longer there. To place the sculptural ensemble, the rock had to be hollowed out a little, and to frame the composition, in the background, an arch was made and a base embedded in the rock was placed with the following phrase: "FASSIAS LU YOUR WILL”.
