Radley Village, Oxfordshire, England - 16 January 2021; no people in view. Perfection can be over-rated. Take, for example, this spontaneous image of knives and cooking utensils in our kitchen, illuminated by low winter light from our kitchen rear window. When |I first spied the setup, I rushed off and grabbed the first camera and lens (they happened to be micro 4/3) within easy reach. Then, after shooting away, I strolled off and grabbed a bigger and better full frame monster with high end glass, put it on a tripod and shot away with lower noise, higher resolution and greater depth of field. PerfectÉ well, actually not. You probably guessed it by now, but the initial grab shots with lower end kit were better. Way better, with much more spontaneity, mood and atmosphere. This not only tells us that technically perfect can be boring, but also 1) the best camera is always the one you have with you AND 2) never sneer at technically less perfect gear. ItÕs always the mug behind the camera that makes the shot matter. So here is an image from the FIRST sequence.
