St Andrew’s Church, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, dating to the 13th century, is large church which may be owed to fact that the Bishops of London held the manor here for centuries. A quilt hanging on the wall by the South Door was made by members of the Much Hadham Women’s Institute and given to H M Queen Mary on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee in 1935. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother returned it to the village when she moved to Clarence House on the death of King George VI. It has the glass, “The Tree Of Life”, from an etching by Henry Moore depicted in the west window by Patrick Reyntiens which marks the friendship and communion vision of Michael Mcadam and Patrick Dolan which in 1984 led to the shared use of this church by the Anglican and Roman Catholic congregations of St Andrews and Holy Cross.
