Lady Alice's domed neo-classical cast iron garden temple in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle, in County Down, Northern Ireland, was built by Colonel Hill in honour of his sister, Lady Alice Maria Hill, Countess of Bective. The striking garden feature is particularly beautiful when reflected in the pool. Although called a castle, it's actually a Georgian country house built in the 18th century for the Hill family, Marquesses of Downshire, who owned it until 1922, when the mansion and grounds were sold to the British government. Since then it was the location of the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement in 1985 and the Royal family, British Prime Ministers, Taoiseachs, and American presidents have all stayed there.
