The land on which the Horlicks Factory sits was purchased from Eton College in 1906 by James Horlicks and became operational as a factory building in 1908. Various subsequent extensions and new buildings were added throughout the 20th Century. Horlicks was acquired by the Beecham Group in 1969, subsequent acquisitions and name changes resulted in ownership by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK). The Horlicks Factory became locally listed in 1999. GSK decided to sell the Horlicks UK brand in 2017 and the factory closed in June 2018. Berkley Home purchased the site later in that year. Planning permission has been given to renovate the site, and build up to 800 new properties. Source: https://horlicksfactory.co.uk/the-horlicks-factory/ ; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horlicks
