Landscape of the architectural ensemble of Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery with a view of the beautiful colorful tent-roofed gate church of the Trinity and Tsarina Chambers after snowfall in early spring. The gate-church was erected in 1652 , and it is one of the most elegant structures in the whole architectural ensemble of the monastery. Initially the church was raised in the reign of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh, but in 1825 it was rededicated. The yellow building at the left is a refectory with the side chapel devoted to the icon of Our Lady of Kazan that was attached to the church in 1807. The wide arch of the gateway instantly catches visitor’s attention - it is decorated with 17th century white-stone rosettes, volutes and balusters. The red one-story building with decorative windows of Tsarina’s Chambers constructed in the middle of 17th century is at the right on the picture. It was built for Maria Ilinishna Miloslavskaya, first wife of Aleksey Mikhailovich. Initially it was also a two-storied (brick and wood) construction, raised on a tall base, forming an extra floor on the side of the wall.
