An angry lioness charges at the camera. Africa: THESE INCREDIBLE images from a British photographer capture all the drama of African wildlife from sparring zebras to up close images of some of nature?s most deadly beasts. One image shows a close-up of Scar, an injured lion, named for the spear wound from a Maasai warrior that caused scarring to his face. The picture is titled ?Robert Smith? for his similarities with the singer from The Cure. These images were taken by UK photographer James Lewin across the conservation zones of Kenya and Tanzania. For many of the images, James used a homemade remote camera in a protective box, allowing him to move the camera towards the animals without interfering with them in any way.?After spending three years using and perfecting the use of my homemade remote camera in a protective box, I saw an opportunity to maximise success in creating unique intimate photography of dangerous animals, ? said James. ?The zebra fight, ?Drought?, is one of the most dramatic photographs I have ever taken, and I am the first to admit that luck plays a crucial part in the success of the image. This is the beauty of working with nature, moments constantly change and are full of surprises. ?Over the time spent with Scar, I could feel the respect from all around him. ?He had a loyal female by his side at all times, he was protected against intruding males and menacing hyenas, and he was the first to eat amongst the pride even though his leg injury made him incapable of doing anything for himself. ?Only a lion as powerful as Scar would receive such treatment within the world of lions. ?There is something so thrilling about not knowing whether or not you got the shot you hoped for, and this was an occasion where everything came together. ?Every time I look at this image, it motivates
