The Armenian church in Esfahan was established more than four hundred years ago. It had the support (oftimes grudgingly) of many regimes. One can see letters from many different Shahs in the museum in the grounds of the cathedral confirming the rights of the Armenians and often enhancing them. These photographs were taken during September 2008. I spoke to some of the church officials who gave the impression that they had not suffered unduly (or more than others) from the revolution. The Armenian Christian women were however obliged to keep to the same dress code as other women in the Country.
